DESCRIPTION

The Mariner crew neck sweater made from 100% merino wool, drawn from sheep grazing the rugged, high altitude terrain of the Rocky Mountains, a climate harsh enough to produce a fiber that is at once delicate and long wearing. This yarn was engineered to feel virtually itch free and resist pilling, so the garment stays soft and true through seasons of wear.

Knit at a 5 gauge rib for warmth and body, the sweater is finished with a structured round crew collar that holds its shape close to the neck, and thumb holes at the cuffs that keep the sleeves settled. Every panel is hand linked, an unhurried, stitch by stitch process that leaves seams flat, a technique mastered by a single artisan at the workshop. What results is an easy, straight cut shape that moves naturally with the body, quiet and unadorned in its construction.

WORKSHOP

Nestled in the mountains of Yamagata, Japan, this facility sits just steps from the Mogami River, drawing on its mineral-clear water for every stage of dyeing. It's a rare, fully integrated site, one of the few left where fiber is dyed and spun under a single roof, rather than passed between separate hands and borders. The methods are traditional, refined over generations, favoring patience over speed. What comes out is yarn defined by its origin.
