The Driver knit is a full zip merino wool sweater built for a relaxed, straight cut fit that layers easily over a shirt or under a jacket. Made from 100% merino wool sourced from sheep raised in the Rocky Mountain region, this sweater uses a yarn developed specifically for the brand to be virtually itch free, the fabric holds its softness and shape through years of regular.

Knit in a 5 gauge ribbed construction for structure and warmth, with a high neck, single layer collar and concealed side pockets that keep the silhouette clean. Every panel is linked entirely by hand, a patient, stitch by stitch method that keeps seams lying flat with barely a trace. One artisan alone carries out the process at the workshop. The outcome is an effortless, straight cut shape that moves in step with the body, closed with an EXCELLA® zip at the neck and chest pocket for a refined finish.

Nestled in the mountains of Yamagata, Japan, this facility sits just steps from the Mogami River, drawing on its mineral-clear water for every stage of dyeing. It's a rare, fully integrated site, one of the few left where fiber is dyed and spun under a single roof, rather than passed between separate hands and borders. The methods are traditional, refined over generations, favoring patience over speed. What comes out is yarn defined by its origin.

MACHINERY

Raw fiber becomes yarn on vintage machinery from Toyoda and Suzuki, built in the 1950s and kept alive through decades of careful hands. These machines demand constant attention, maintained by artisans who understand their particular quirks, earned through age rather than engineered away. Spinning here is unhurried, turning raw wool into yarn one careful pass at a time.

MATERIAL

Rambouillet sheep raised on family farms across the Rocky Mountains produce this merino wool, their fleece dense and elastic from generations in the region's cold, high-altitude climate. The fiber is soft yet substantial, dense without losing its natural drape. That same fineness makes it prone to pilling, a natural trait that softens the fabric into a lived-in character over time.

HARDWEAR

Manufactured in Japan, the EXCELLA® closure system is engineered to tolerances that keep it smooth long after cheaper mechanisms catch or fail, the product of decades of refinement in slide mechanism and tooth geometry. It's treated as functional hardware worthy of the same rigor as the rest of the garment.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

Each panel is linked by hand, loop drawn through loop, in a technique that takes an artisan up to five years to earn the right to perform. It is a slow, exacting rhythm that joins yarn to yarn until the seam all but disappears, the moment individual panels become a single garment. What results is not just a construction step but a quiet inheritance, patience made visible in every join.
