Uchi Cowhide Leather House Shoe

Cut from vegetable tanned Shonan cowhide, tanned in Himeji, a region that has shaped hide into leather for well over a thousand years, its tough, weather resistant hides refined over generations into some of Japan's finest cowhide. The craft runs deep here, carried in the water of the region's rivers and in hands that have passed the process down through time.

A house shoe built for indoor wear, its two leather pieces meeting at the arch and held together with a stud closure, brass on natural leather, nickel on black, a small point of contrast against the hide. The leather carries a naturally cooling touch underfoot, staying comfortable regardless of the season, and the unlined footbed is left to soften and shape itself to the wearer's foot over time, growing more personal with every wear. Below, the sole is built from multiple sheets of leather layered into one thick, unlined base, offering structure and weight without the need for added lining. Edge finished with a hand skived bevel and hand burnished to a smooth, closed finish throughout.
